 | Next episode! And this one's a doozy!... Enjoy! Episode #9 - A New Friend? Added - 8 / 7 / 07 *When we last saw our heroes, Penelo and Vaan were having lunch at the Sandsea. Penelo "accidentally" racked up quite a high bill, causing Vaan to storm off, and her to attempt to leave without paying. This in turn caused Tomaj to chase after her...Let's Watch...* Penelo: *Dipping and dodging through the crowd* ...Excuse me! Pardon me! Oh, sorry!... Tomaj: *In hot pursuit* Hey, hold up Penelo! Penelo!... *At the sound of his approaching voice, Penelo kicked into gear and sped into a darkened alley, surely Tomaj wouldn't follow her into here...* Penelo: *Murmuring to self* Just keep running...Just keep running...Just keep...*Looks back*...Ack! Tomaj: *Coming up behind her* ...I'm gonna get you, Penelo! Penelo: *Praying, while running!* Oh dear gods, please don't let this man catche me, PLEASE! *Penelo trips* Penelo: No! No! No! *Tomaj is but a few yards away when suddenly...he slumps to the ground? Penelo crawls over to his limp body and checks his pulse. Yes, he's still alive, but he has a huge blunt wound on the back of his head.* Penelo: *Looks down at Tomaj in despair* What happened to you, who did this to you!?... ???: It was me. *Penelo looks to the end of the alley. There, she sees a figure standing in the shadows, their precise form cloaked in darkness.* Penelo: Wh-Wh-Who are you?... ???: A friend... Penelo: Why...Why did you hurt Tomaj?... ???: Wasn't this man chasing you?... Penelo: Yes, but I... ???: It doesn't matter. He was chasing you, and you looked frightened...I decided to intervene. Penelo: Well you almost killed him! ???: I did what was neccessary to protect you. Penelo: I don't need your protection! ???: I'd beg to differ...Besides, why do you care about what happens to some lowely ale slinger anyways?...You, my dear have so much potential. I could help you reach that potential if you just follow me... *The figure sticks their hand out, all the while making sure too much of their form wouldn't be seen* ???: Well? Penelo: ...What do you mean, "potential"... ???: ...You don't realize how special you are. I've been watching you, and I must say that you're quite the accomplished dancer... Penelo: And? ???: And I can show you how to put your dancing to better use. I could teach you the most advanced Dalmascan martial arts, and... Penelo: My brothers taught me martial arts! ???: Did they teach you the ancient Judo arts of House Dalmasca? Or was it the lowly, piss-poor sissy punching they were taught as soldiers?... Penelo: My brothers were not-- ???: Your brothers were worthless, lazy, good-for-nothing weaklings. Penelo: Don't you insult my brothers! You don't know my brothers! You...*Penelo begins to cry*...don't know my brothers... ???: I see...You're just as weak as your brothers, not strong enough to wield such incredible power... *The figure sticks out their other hand, this one clutching a glowing gem, seething with a strange blue light* Penelo: ...What is... ???: Take it. Penelo: What? ???: Take it before your friends come. Penelo: But, what is... Fran: Penelo? *Penelo turns to look at the mouth of the alley. There she sees Fran, Balthier, and "Candy". The three of them rush over to her.* Balthier: *Examining Tomaj's wound* What happened here?... Penelo: ...I...He... "Candy": Speak up, aye! Penelo: Someone did this... Balthier: *Looks up at Penelo* Well, who? *Penelo turns back to where the mysterious person was. There, replacing their position sat a grapefuit-sized gem. Fran cautiously walked over and picked the stone up.* Fran: ...Nethicite. Penelo: ..What's Nethicite? Fran: Nethicite is a powerful form of magicite...Much too powerful to just be laying around in the din of an empty alley. *Fran caresses the nethicite* Fran: It's deifacted, as well... Balthier: *Hoists Tomaj over the side of "Candy"'s shoulder* So I take it this "nethicite" is some pretty bad mojo, eh? Fran: Very bad... Who was this strange visitor? Will Tomaj heal from his wounds? Will the secret of the nethicite be uncovered? Stay tuned... |
