Lightning crackled in the distance as rain poured down upon the bleak cityscape. Mounted upon several of the more strategically-placed towering skyscrapers were screens that flickered and flashed static. The city was dead silent, save for the sound of the rain crashing upon the cold ground below. Above the sky was a full moon that illuminated the area in a pale silver light, and around the city were various flashing and flickering signs. From two sides of the city, echoing could be heard as footsteps resounded through the city. On one side emerged a young man with spikey blond hair depressed by the sheer amounts of rain. He wore a black tank-top with a shoulder guard and a flowing sleeve on his left arm. His right arm was bare and lightly muscled, and he wore a long black glove on both hands. His pants were also black and slightly baggy, and he wore a flowing length of cloth loosely around his waist and left leg. His boots were black and polished, the buckles shining eerily in the moonlight. In his right hand he held a massive sword, the blade somewhat rectangular in shape and with several fastenings along the hilt and blade. On the other side emerged an even younger man wearing a black jacket and blue undershirt. His hair was brown and about as spikey as the other, and he wore black shorts that fell to just below his knees. The pelvis area of his pants were blue, and there was a red pouch on his right leg, as well as several yellow, belt-like strips of cloth. The tops of his boots were yellow, and the bottoms were black, as well as crossed by two blue belts. Both hands were covered by black gloves with white trim. In his right hand he held a large key that was more of a sword than anything else. While not as large as the first man's sword, it had a definitive length to it and was adorned in spikey white designs. The center of the blade was blue, and the hand-guard was white spikes that jutted out and around the hilt. The "key" end of it had three protruding white spikes on one side, and tapered off into a blue circle. Immediately, the television screens flared to life all around the city. Half of them displayed the first man from several different angles, several showing him standing and displaying a chart of his vital statistics and the name "Cloud Strife". On the other side the second man was displayed, again with some screens displaying vital statistics and the name "Sora". Lightning flashed in the distance as they sized each other up. The boom of thunder split the skies, and as one they both charged forward, bringing their weapons to bear. Both blades clashed, and the combatants stood on even footing, both holding their swords in both hands. The blades pushed against each other, sparks flying freely from them, before they broke apart and skidded along the ground. A gem fastened to Cloud's sword glowed fiercely and lightning began to gather around his blade as he charged forward, the bolts growing bigger as the rain water continued to fall. Sora twirled his keyblade and leapt into the air, Cloud jumping up to meet him. Cloud swung his sword at Sora in a wide arc as Sora spun, his body shooting up even further into the air. Cloud swore as his blade drew a line of electricity across the everpresent raindrops, the air sizzling with magical energy. Spinning around in midair, Sora raised his keyblade and thrust it in Cloud's direction. A storm of ice burst from his keyblade, hurtling towards Cloud and freezing the water as it moved forward. Cloud spun himself around in midair and clove through the sky with his sword, his armband glowing and orange flames appearing briefly along his blade. The sword sliced through the ice and there was a loud hissing sound as flames flared to life across is blade before dying at the onslaught of rain and ice. Both Sora and Cloud flipped in midair and landed deftly on their feet, their swords held in a ready position. Charing forward, Sora jumped onto the side of a building and began running across them, continually jumping from building to building. Cloud lowered his sword as Sora charged forward, before spinning to the right with great speed. His massive blade clove through a nearby building, explosive energy sizzling through the sky. The force of the slash threw the building forward and hurled it at Sora, who's expression grew grim. Lowering his keyblade and holding it at his side, Sora pushed off against one of the standing buildings and shot foward, slicing through the building with his keyblade. As the building split apart and smashed into two other buildings, Sora landed just beyond where Cloud had been standing. He whirled just in time to see Cloud descending upon him. Sora's keyblade shot up as Cloud's sword smashed into it, the ground buckling under Sora's feet as he was pushed downward. Sora strained under the force of Cloud's attack as he was driven even further into the ground. Gritting his teeth, he dashed forward and disengaged his blade, causing Cloud's sword to smash into the ground below and shatter the pavement with concussive force. Cloud turned, his left hand on the blade of his sword. Sora ran up the side of the building and pushed off, hurling himself forward and using the momentum for an aerial attack on Cloud. Cloud removed his hand from his sword, now holding another blade in his left hand. Crossing them, he caught Sora's attack with ease, the momentum pushing him back slightly but not causing him to lose his footing. Pushing Sora away from him, Cloud surged forward and began launching several swift attacks on Sora from both sides. Desperately, Sora defended himself with his keyblade, but the combined onslaught of both weapons was far too much for him and he began to lose ground. His brow furrowed in intense concentration, Sora dodged under one of Cloud's sword strokes and brought his keyblade up, forcing Cloud to bring both his blades together to guard. Using the momentum of the slash Sora sprang high into the air. "Give me strength!" he yelled, his body glowing with light. In a burst of blinding radiance Sora appeared, but now transformed. His clothing was now silver with black trim and black patterns adorning the sleeves. On his back he held not only his normal keyblade, but another keyblade as well. It was dull and gray, with jagged edges, bandage wrapping near the base of the blade, and a gray crossguard. The hilt was red, and the handguard was purple and protected both sides of his hand. Cloud leapt into the air to meet Sora, but was intercepted by both of the keyblades, which seemed to move with a life of their own. As Sora faced Cloud down calmly, his eyes burning, the keyblades moved in unison, pushing Cloud back. Both blades slashed and cut under Cloud's guard, opening several minor wounds as they pushed him down. Cloud fell back to the ground and landed feet-first, reattaching his blades and preparing for a massive swing. Sora dropped down, both keyblades flying to his hand. As Cloud slashed upward with his sword, Sora flipped over the slash as both keyblades whirled around Cloud, stabbing at his back and knocking him forward. As Cloud was hurled forward, Sora landed nimbly on the ground and dashed forward. The keyblades sprang to life, assaulting Cloud's back and slashing at him faster than Cloud could turn to block. Cloud screamed in pain as he was blasted forward, and gripped his sword tightly. Turning, he came face-to-face with Sora, now holding his keyblades. Again, Cloud slashed at Sora with a broad, horizontal strike. Sora jumped over the blade and spun his keyblades around before unleashing a string of vicious attacks at Cloud's torso, ending in a charging attack that left both combatants back-to-back. Cloud staggered and coughed blood, before collapsing on the ground. As Sora turned to face him, his clothing seemed to melt off of his body, returning to the black garb that he usually wore. His second keyblade vanished and his first keyblade clattered to the ground as Sora fell to one knee, his energy spent. | ||
