Default space travel theories

OK, I'm writing a story, which obviously involves space travel, but I am not sure how to go about explaining space travel itself. I would like to hear some of your theories on it, and maybe some theories that are already out there that I don't know about. Help would be greatly appreciated.

welll.... u can buy a space book or something that hold few theories and facts.... try to put facts in ur story that will make it more desirable.... i like space and well i can tell u one thing.
space is mysterious and unknown so u can make somethings up and remember that many people know nothing but few things about space..... so u have a very big field there mate.... try to speak of a place out of our galaxy so u have more options.
hope this help.... keep up the work... never give up ^_-

well, you can't go wrong with worm holes (apparently). I'm a fan of sci-fi, but as far as practical methods go, I can't tell you much but to ehco Owen: just do a lot of reading, but don't get locked into using something that you think is passable. Use your imagaination- surprise us.

Well... Winkle in Time used tesseracts in order to jump around space. Instead of using stuff like "worm holes" maybe you should come up with something entirely new and innovative to explain space travel in your story?
