A speech i wrote for my speech/debate class

this is a speech i wrote for my final in my debate class. its kinda short.

Take a look around this world… and tell me what it is that you see. Are the problems plaguing this world not compelling as well as alarming? This raises a rather serious question in my mind. What have our ancestors done? Throughout history we as humans have learned to feed off of hate, and still today hatred runs rampant through our veins. And this raises yet another question: is there not a better way? Can we, as humans, begin living nobly even after centuries of pain and strife? I say we can! We can end the night of peril that has shaded the past generations. We can lift the dark curtain; we can shine light upon our shadows! We can win this battle… this battle waging within all of our hearts. We can finally accomplish that far off goal; we can succeed where every past generation has failed. We can do all of this, if we only tried.
This that I speak of is the ultimate human responsibility, and it is not being lived up to. Every one of us here today has this responsibility, and it is shameful that, previously, we have not been doing our utmost to uphold this responsibility. But now is the time to right our wrongs, and to unite to make this world a better place, because tomorrow could be the day this world changes forever, in a way that previous eras have never come to know. With the help of each other the day will come when people everywhere will stand together in unity to help one another, and to perpetuate goodness.
I am not unaware that this task that I speak of is a difficult one, and I know that the road is long. I know very well how much easier it is to succumb to the forces of hatred, and to sink into the societal abyss of today, than it is to uphold the greatest of morals. I know this task is difficult, but I also know that it is possible. All we must do is put aside the negativity that we, as a species, have grown so dependant on. When you see someone down, now is the time to pick them up. We must look ahead, with our dignified goal in our minds, and march forward to redemption. We must now put our differences aside, and never again look back! In unity we can build a shield of righteousness so strong that no spear or saber could ever penetrate it, and the arrows of malice could never pierce it.
You have the power to create a better world. The choice between humanity and insanity is yours, and yours alone. And now I ask you one question: “are you with me, or are you against me?”
