Sister Wolf
In the darkness, she hunts
the moon her companion
in her freedom from civilization.

She changes her form
a woman emerges
to dance in the meadow, alone.

Unseen by man
chosen of the goddess
she performs the old rites in secret.

Her secrets she guards
she hides from closed minds
afraid of the death they would deal her.

Yet always she hunts
the moon her companion
and she’ll dance in the meadow, alone.
