#1  [P] It Frightened Me To Be So Still Sitting alone in a dark house Late one Sunday evening Music playing in the background No one else around The phone began to ring But died before I could pick it up Leaving an eerie silence Broken only by a guitar strumming silently Yet in the distance could be heard The sound of cars coming and going People walking the street And the buzz of the speakers as the stereo moved to the next song The singing began And the drums beat loud Bringing to the house A sound I had not heard before The hollow echo of the music As it bounced off the walls and up the stairs Brought forth feelings I did not know I felt As the bass drummed in my chest The melody of the music Played through my head Bringing out a silence through the sound Piercing so quiet only to be heard once more The last track played Bringing an ominous silence unexpected For at last quietness truly was upon me And it frightened me to be so still Nothing moved and everything was quiet As I sat on the top step of the stairs Just listening to the empty nothing And it frightened me to be so still |
