#1 Underneath The Sun of noon Her voyage is one of Death Judgement doth she seek for her wretched soul Clouding her vision doth The Devil attain Tears of The Star cleanse her sight The Moon satiates for her lucidity Saved is she by the glimpse of Justice The Hierophant, with a worldly gaze Looks upon The Lovers: their blaze fades Devoid of Temperance, her journey lingers Onward, only by the will of the Empress Strength doth she gain from the brazen path Of The Hermit sailing on tactless waters The Hanged Man, yet, sails on such waters Facing The Tower, it looks behind itself And The Magician, looking only at itself Hidden from view, The Emperor schemes Wisely, The High Priestess claims, “The journey approaches its end” Benightedly, The Wheel of Fortune contorts, “It has only begun” With strong hoof beats, The Chariot gathers all And all find the elusive answer, as The World turns once more Though, “That is not the answer,” asserts The Aeon For the past 4 years, I've been planning to write a story of my own, however, it's proven to be a difficult task mainly because of writing the background of the story, checking for paradoxes, and many more headaches. As such, I'm writing a fanfic based on the Persona series to help me write a bit better, since the background of the story and other "foundations" have already been solidified. This poem is the prologue to my fanfic and in fact, the general plotline. Since this is a rough draft, I want to know other people's opinions on how it sounds, since it encompasses the entirety of the story. I want constructive criticism from all my readers, especially from those who've taken a course on a type of writing. Please keep in mind that although it is a rough draft, I did write this poem thinking I wouldn't have to change much, so essentially, it's my "final" copy, meaning that I did a lot of work with it. I actually managed to incorporate a lot of poetic techniques into this poem, so it isn't just a poem I wrote out of the blue and I want to see whether you guys can pinpoint the techniques I used. Also, it might pay to read some of the lines in various ways, as some lines have multiple meanings. This poem is based off on the tarot cards (as is the Persona series), so if you want to further understand the meanings of the poem, it might do some good to research the tarot arcana. Although the Persona series did inspire me to write this fanfic, the .hack series (Epitaph of Twilight) inspired the poem, so I hope you see some similarities between my poem and the EoT. |
