catching every glimpse
longing for a path outward

bringing their hope to despair
gently calling out
"our souls are longing for peace"

they know there is no way out
a single soul brings
until they find a way home

(ps. i sorta messed up with the sylable thing...i forgot that it was 5, 7, 5 not 7, 5, 7. Whoops!)

Meter is ridiculously important if you actually want to call it a haiku. =P

well...i tried!!!!but yea...im not that good of a poem writer...im more of a big picture person so i'd have to write tons of haikus and make a story...in fact i might do that...can u guys tell me what i should write about?thanx!

You're just 13 ^^ so don't worry you have plenty of time to develop your writting skills Try first free verses like forget the metric and ryhme and focus just on words! I began to write sonnets when I was your age and then gave up when I realized they were so harsh! Poetry takes a lot of time and skill to write ^^ Practise first and post your outcomes, the more you write the better you will get.

Also it helps to read a lot! Not just to create your own style but also to see some new words and ways of writting!

i love reading!!!!the reason i got started into writing poems was because my lit. teach was starting a new assignment where we had to write 1 or 2 copies of every poem and my sonnet was about being at the lake....and she liked all of my poems and said that i should try becoming an author...so i am starting with poetry
