| | I have to say, be it flattery or oddity, a fanfic based off of MY fanfic? That's either awesome, or creepy. I'm gonna say it's a borderline between the two. Awepy. Crawesome. Perhaps once I get caught up on writing my official Season 2 I'll give this one a read through. |

| | All right. Sorry this had to be late. Now, let's hear from the final four teams -- the final eliminated team and the teams that ran the final leg! INT. STUDIO Baralai sat in his director's chair, this time in the center of the stage, with Cyan Garamonde, Gau Graham, Freya Crescent, and Irontail Fratley sitting on his right, and Godo Kisaragi, his daughter, Yuffie, Captain Lucil, and Elma sitting on his left. BARALAI: Good morning and welcome to The Early Final Fantasy Show. After three months of watching eleven interesting teams race around various worlds, the race has finally ended, and the final four teams are here with me in the studio. First, please welcome the eighth and final team eliminated, Captain Lucil and Elma. LUCIL: Greetings. It is a great honor to be here, Baralai. ELMA: Hi. Nice to finally meet you. BARALAI: Also here are our third-place-finishers, Lady Freya Crescent and Sir Irontail Fratley. FREYA: Hello, Baralai. I am quite glad to be here. FRATLEY: As am I, sir. BARALAI: We also have our second-place-finishers, Lord Godo and Yuffie Kisaragi, here with us. GODO: Good morning, Baralai. YUFFIE: Oh, hey! Awesome outfit, Baralai! BARALAI: And finally, the men — or, I should say, man and boy — of the hour, winners Cyan Garamonde and Gau Graham. CYAN: Hello. GAU: Hi . . . HI! BARALAI: So, we’ll start with our fourth-place-finishers. Lucil and Elma, you were, by far, the most popular team this season. You shocked everyone with your elimination in the final four! What happened? LUCIL: I believe the only thing we can truly say went wrong is that we opted not to go with the risky flight the other three teams went for. Had we done so and made it, we more than likely would’ve been on about even footing with them going into the Detour in World One. ELMA: Yeah, then we wouldn’t have been racing with Lady Freya and Sir Fratley for last place. They probably would have finished last instead of us. BARALAI: Did you think of looking for earlier connecting flights in Albrook? ELMA: We did. There weren’t any, so we were stuck with the one we had. BARALAI: And because of that, you two fell victim to the same “curse” as Irvine and Selphie at the beginning of this season and lost the race in your own world. Was that pretty hard? LUCIL: It was very hard, especially since it happened in full view of our dear friend, Clasko, and since we were so close to reaching the final three. ELMA: The entire Youth League was practically ribbing us when they watched it last night, and they still haven’t totally let us live it down. BARALAI: I see. Well, let’s now turn to Freya and Fratley. You two were certainly the most controversial team this season, thanks largely to Fratley. Now, how were you both received back in Gaia? FREYA: Well, I was not received all that well due to how long I let Fratley’s stunts go on without stopping them. I got no break for not even knowing about them. Fratley, of course, was received as expected — terribly. For several weeks, he had mobs coming to Burmecia, all of whom were literally out for his blood. They all admired the Fun Bunch and hated what Fratley continuously attempted doing to them and wanted to personally make him pay for it. FRATLEY: I stayed hidden in the palace to make sure no one got to me. It was a really hard few months avoiding civilians. Even many Burmecians wanted my head on a platter. BARALAI: Well, are you still, you know, evil now? ’Cause I will need a few moments to get my helmet and other protective ![]() ![]() ![]() if you are.FRATLEY: (laughs) No, of course not, Baralai. Freya took me to get looked at by a doctor in Lindblum after the race. BARALAI: Really? And what did you find out? FREYA: That apparently, after his accident, he’d been exposed to a dangerous amount of Mist. The effects of it had lain dormant in his mind and body until early on in the race. It triggered his psychotic side and began his vendetta against the Fun Bunch. BARALAI: So he had no control over what he did? FRATLEY: Oh, I did, all right. I just did things I normally wouldn’t do without being exposed to Mist. BARALAI: How did you ever avoid getting penalized for doing all that ![]() ![]() ![]() ?FRATLEY: I threatened the production crew not to relay it to Gippal. I laid it out quite clearly that if they kept the things I had done between them and myself, I would allow them to keep their lives. Sadly, that was not shown. BARALAI: Were you even penalized for boarding that cargo ship in Costa del Sol with no money? FRATLEY: No. Lucil and Elma actually left us 400 gil after we lost all our money on that non-elimination leg. BARALAI: Ah. Well, Freya, you took it upon yourself to decide that Fratley did not deserve to win and deliberately threw the race in Kilika for both him and yourself. What drove you to do such a thing? What drove you to sacrifice the chance for the million? FREYA: It was a last-minute idea of mine, really. I was so disgusted with finding out that Fratley had committed all of those truly heinous acts and did not want them to go unpunished. So I just stopped running and deliberately allowed us to miss the ferry we could’ve used to stay even with the other two teams. As it turned out, I put us so far behind, once we made it to the billboards, we got a clue telling us to go straight to the finish line. We were not able to complete that final task. BARALAI: Did you ever get past that? FRATLEY: We did. After my treatment, we got back together. We are engaged to be married, in fact, in eight months. BARALAI: Well, all right. Now, let’s turn to our second-place-finishers. Godo and Yuffie, you two nearly caught up to Cyan and Gau right at the end, but you lost by a nose. Where do you think it all went wrong? GODO: Being content with the first flight we found to Bevelle, Baralai. YUFFIE: Yeah, we should’ve kept looking for earlier flights like Cyan and Gau did. They managed to snag seats on the one that landed ten minutes before ours did. Those were ten minutes we probably needed to stay ahead of them, and we could’ve aced that final challenge without any problems at all. BARALAI: You both seemed to take your loss really well. GODO: Well, we won’t lie, Baralai. Losing the race just by a nose was really tough for both of us — and even tougher watching it again last night — but we’re still very proud of how well we did the whole time. We lasted all the way to the end, ran all thirteen legs, and came in second. That’s a very good achievement for a man my age. YUFFIE: I would’ve loved to win, but winning isn’t everything. I learned that the hard way many times before the race, but last night showed the first time I actually understood what that meant. Plus, we lost to two very good friends of ours, so that cushioned the blow. BARALAI: So neither of you faked being happy for Cyan and Gau? GODO: Of course not. YUFFIE: They really did deserve their win, and we were honestly happy for them. BARALAI: Good to know. Well, finally, let’s turn to our winners, Cyan and Gau. You are the second team to win, and I’m sure it feels excellent. CYAN: Baralai, thou hast no idea how wonderful it felt to win the race. It felt like hundreds of Cure3 and Regen spells being cast on me. GAU: Gau felt great! Gau so excited when Gippal say we win race! Gau so happy, I feel like fainting, but barely kept together. BARALAI: I’m sure you did feel that way. Uh, by the way, Cure3? CYAN: Oh, it is what people in thy world would call “Curaga,” I think. BARALAI: Ah. Well, you seemed to have your heads on fairly straight in that final challenge. What was your secret? CYAN: I am glad thou asked. Thou see, throughout the race, I took notes on everything we did on the race — the places to which we traveled, the tasks we performed, the items we used in performing the tasks, the Pit Stop locations, the teams eliminated . . . anything and everything thou could possibly imagine. Godo and Yuffie forgot a few places because they had not done the same thing we had. It seemed to hurt them a tad. GAU: It good strategy Cyan had, and it worked. BARALAI: Apparently. Well, this next question’s for Cyan and Gau and Godo and Yuffie. Your teams were really close to the Qu guys, Quale and Quina. What was it like hanging out with them? CYAN: Sir Quale and Sir Quina were extraordinary men. They had this uniqueness about them that made them appealing. Much of our time with them we found enjoyable, as they always found a way to make us laugh. GAU: Gau liked Quale and Quina ’cause they speak like Gau. And they eat savagely like Gau. They funny, too, and I relate to them both easy. Their personalities so very warm, too. GODO: What I liked about them was the friendliness I felt from them. Quale and Quina are some of the friendliest nonhuman creatures I’ve ever known. They’re a bit quirky, yes, but they’re very nice guys. Very down-to-Earth. Very . . . amiable. YUFFIE: There’s just this weird sense of fun you get from them, you know? They’re like these people that are so fun to be with, and you almost can’t stand not being with them. They opened our eyes to people from worlds other than ours, and we owe ’em big for that. BARALAI: You still hang out with them? And if so, regularly? YUFFIE: You kidding? Like, twice a month since the race ended, Dad and I have taken trips to Gaia and visited them in Qu’s Marsh just to hang out with them! We always have a great time! GAU: We join them, too! We pay them visits, too! CYAN: The six of us always meet twice a month for a little get-together of sorts for a few hours. Sometimes, we visit them. Sometimes, we have our get-togethers in Doma Castle, where Sir Gau and I are living now. Sometimes, we have it in Wutai on The Planet. Many people catch sight of us together and yell out, “GO, FUN BUNCH!”, or other such exclamations. One admirer even went so far as asking us if we’d ever get our own reality show together, which I do admit sounds enticing. GODO: Regardless of where we meet, it’s a lot of fun, and it’s great catching up and really visiting with each other. BARALAI: Great to know you’re all still friends. But have you talked to any teams outside of your alliance? CYAN: Well, of course. Sir Gau and I are great friends with Locke and Celes, as they’re already from our world. I believe we are also friends with Princesses Reina and Faris and Cid and Edea. YUFFIE: I talked to Irvine and Selphie during our stopover in Balamb on the first leg, and they were kinda cool. I was a bit bummed they went out first, because I had a lot in common with Selphie. BARALAI: And have any of you met any Fun Bunch detractors while the race aired? YUFFIE: What the hell is a detractor? GODO: He means someone who didn’t like our alliance. YUFFIE: Oh. Well, yeah, but not many. Really, the only two who weren’t happy the Fun Bunch had a one-two finish were these two guys, Reno and Rude, who work with Tseng and Elena. They wanted Freya and Fratley or Lucil and Elma to win since they were at least allied with their fellow Turks and were pissed that they didn’t. CYAN: Ultros, that octopus who attacked us on the fifth leg of the race, was the sole detractor of our world. Well, he and his companion, Chupon. BARALAI: I have no idea who that is, but okay. Now, turning to Freya and Fratley and Lucil and Elma, they never really showed how your two teams became friends. How did that happen? LUCIL: I think it started when we took the top two spots on the first two legs of the race. We both saw that we were each other’s strongest competition at that point, but instead of a rivalry, we actually built a friendship. ELMA: A friendship that turned into an alliance of the strong, of sorts. We respected each other’s strength and wanted to form an alliance to keep ourselves in the race, at least until a later time — when it was down to four or five teams, at least. FREYA: It wasn’t shown that often, but we did share information with one another on several occasions. It was more than likely not played up all that much because they were so busy portraying Fratley as the ruthless villain of the race and did not want to give him any redeeming qualities to make him worth rooting for. Although there was a small minority of Gaia viewers who rooted for him, regardless of everything he’d done. FRATLEY: I really did like and respect Lucil and Elma, but I was very upset not to see it shown on-air. It really would’ve made us look more relatable. BARALAI: Well, what was with trying to stab Elma like that after your alliance split up? FRATLEY: Mist-driven rage. Nothing more, nothing less, Baralai. BARALAI: Oh, right. Well, were your two teams friends with any others outside of your alliance? FREYA: Oh, of course, Baralai. As was shown on the first leg, we did enjoy Irvine and Selphie’s company during that fishing task in Balamb. We also did like Tseng and Elena, although we were a bit suspicious of them. And we adored Sir Wakka and Lady Lulu, as well as Cid and Edea. ELMA: Despite their disgusting sex stories, almost everyone on the race was fond of Cid and Edea. They were charming people, indeed, for their age. Um . . . but Captain Lucil and I also bonded with Princesses Reina and Faris over being women’s teams. And, naturally, we were already friends with Sir Wakka and Lady Lulu, as they’re from Spira like we are. Oh, and we also liked Quale and Quina a lot. BARALAI: Okay. Well, Lucil and Elma, you were, by average finish, not only the best team in this race, but the best team ever, in both races so far, as well as the best team never to win the race. Which made it even more shocking you didn’t make the final three. LUCIL: We were very surprised about that. We thought we had it practically sewn up. ELMA: It was a real downer having to stand at the finish line instead of cross it. We know we could’ve won the race if we’d made that final three. We ran the last leg as decoys ahead of the others, and when we saw all the tasks, we knew we could have blown through them and won the whole thing. BARALAI: Speaking of decoys, weren’t the Qu guys decoys, as well? LUCIL: Yes. After their elimination, Quale and Quina ran both of the legs of the final four as decoys. We took over after our elimination, while they were sent to Bevelle to stay there one night with the six teams who’d been sequestered in Ivalice, but moved to Spira to prepare for the last day of the race. We met up with all seven of those teams at the finish line on Mt. Gagazet at the end of our decoy run and awaited the final three teams’ arrivals. BARALAI: Interesting. Well, I guess we can only address something I was told by Wakka when he and Lulu were here. Fratley, Wakka told me that it was actually from the very first leg you didn’t like the Fun Bunch teams. Was it indeed because you felt they were weak? FRATLEY: Yes, Baralai. I truly believed their three teams were nothing but useless weaklings wasting spots potentially stronger teams deserved to have taken. I wanted the three of their teams out of the race. At first, I just wanted to see them eliminated. But as the race went on, the Mist-induced psychosis drove me to want to kill them, which is how all of my schemes commenced. BARALAI: And you all still hate each other now? CYAN: Not in the least. After he was treated, he was perfectly normal and perfectly sane. He was safe to be around without fear of being harmed by him. GAU: Gau fine with him. GODO: I feel safe being around him, as well. He hasn’t attempted to do me harm even once since his treatment. YUFFIE: Doesn’t bother me anymore. He’s actually been a lot nicer since the race ended. Quale and Quina would tell you the same thing, and they actually live in Gaia. BARALAI: Well, that’s great. Well, we’re running out of time here, so I’ll just say it was great watching all of you this season. All of you were interesting in your own different ways. On that note, I wanna ask what your favorite moments were, going from the lowest-ranked team to the highest-ranked team. Lucil? LUCIL: When I comforted Elma when she realized she wasn’t a leader. I think it really brought us a bit closer as teammates and as friends. ELMA: The Chocobo Races at the Gold Saucer. I had never raced a chocobo in my life, so it was a good experience. FREYA: Dancing in Ioka Village. I found it very enjoyable. FRATLEY: Oh, I have a lot of them, all of them my “evil” schemes against the Fun Bunch. But I shall have to choose getting Gau, Quina, and Yuffie electrocuted. GODO: I know it was on an early leg, but protecting Yuffie from the rockslide. YUFFIE: Mine was early, too, but . . . meeting the kick-ass Beatrix in Alexandria! CYAN: Obviously, winning the race. GAU: Gau, too! But Gau like eating challenges, too! BARALAI: Very good. Well, it’s a shame you guys won’t ever be seen again. I am gonna miss seeing you all each week. But I hope as many of you as possible are back if there is an All-Star season in the future. NOOJ (O.S.): Will you stop with the ass-kissing? We’re almost done here! Just give up the money so we can get this over with! BARALAI: Oh, thank God! Right. Now for the best part. As the winners of the race, Cyan and Gau, it’s my honor to present each of you with a check for 500,000 gil, which you can exchange for GP in your world. Congratulations to both of you. (A crew member walks in with two checks, one made out to Cyan Garamonde, and one made out to Gau Graham. Each is for 500,000 gil.) CYAN: Thank thee, Baralai! GAU: Thanks! BARALAI: I’m sure you’ll put the money to good use, eh, you two? CYAN: Indeed. The entire half of my winnings will go to restoring Doma to its former glory. In addition, any leftover money I shall use as a bit of spending money for when we take the vacation to Costa del Sol we won on the race. GAU: Mine, too, plus, I start learning better speaking and get better clothes! BARALAI: Yeah, you could definitely use both. Well, that’s all for today. Thank you for coming, all of you, and thank you for giving us a terrific season. |

| | Well, I'm pleased, after over a month's wait, to be able to bring you this ep's Awards... by George Buttner Welcome one, and welcome all, one final time! It’s time for the First Class and Cargo Class awards for the final episode of The Amazing Final Fantasy Race 2. And what a race it was! We’ve had action, drama, backstabbing, intense emotion, victory, defeat, you name it. This race has pushed teams to their limits, with both its own obstacles and pres-sures they created themselves. In the final legs of the race, the teams traveled from Final Fantasy 7’s The Planet to Final Fantasy 5’s World One to Final Fantasy 10/10-2’s Spira, facing several difficult tasks and one last elimination along the way. At times, they caved in to the pres-sure. At others, they found themselves more than rising to the chal-lenge, with heretofore-unknown reserves of strength. And I am sure eve-ryone was curious to see how things would finally shake out in the in-tense rivalry between Fratley and the remaining two Fun Bunch teams. All in all, the race did not disappoint with its thrilling conclusion. But which teams or individual racers actually deserve to be awarded for this final episode of the race? With only four teams left, we’re doing things a little differently for this final leg. This time around, I’m only handing out First Class and Cargo Class, and dispensing with the Business and Coach Class awards. So let’s get going! Let’s take a moment to look at each team’s individual First Class and Cargo Class moments for the finale. Lucil & Elma showed a kind moment when Elma thanked Gau for his help previously and the two admitted that they had been mistaken about Fratley. This was a nice display of humility on their part that demonstrated how humbled the two of them were to have been so mistaken about their erstwhile ally. And when they made the mistake in choosing which flight to take to World One, putting themselves dangerously far behind, their willingness to stick with it till the end and complete their last tasks with their usual grit and per-severance definitely counts as a First Class moment and almost saved them from elimination. I also give them a First Class moment for their classy exit, in which they admitted how much they appreciated working with each other, how honored they were to be finishing fourth behind the final three times, and how happy they’d feel for whichever team won. As I said, classy exit from both of them. As for Cargo Class moments, Lucil & Elma got one when they made the mistake with the flights, as previously mentioned. They thought they were playing safe by not taking the flight with the risky connection, but the real risk was not staying with the other teams, all of whom did risk taking that flight and gladly saw it pay off. This mistake really hurt Lucil & Elma and ultimately ensured the elimination of the strongest team in the race. So with that said, Lucil & Elma, here is your sole Cargo Class moment. Freya & Fratley had only one joint First Class moment — taking the risk on the flight with the risky connection. They knew it was a gamble, but because of things being so down to the wire, they were unwilling to play it safe. The risk paid off, and they arrived in World One with plenty of time on their side. They needed that time for when they made their mistake with their dragon. (More on that in a bit.) And of course, the move that cost this team everything was Freya’s First Class moment and hers alone — throwing the race in Kilika when she finally found out the truth about her beloved Fratley. So Freya & Fratley, here are your First Class moments. Fratley was going right at the start with his Cargo behavior, promising to make Lucil & Elma pay. He just wouldn’t let it go that Lucil & Elma had used the Yield on him and Freya and just wouldn’t accept that they’d done it for strategic reasons and nothing more. Later, forgetting to give the dragon the treat definitely counted as a Cargo Class moment. It was a stupid mistake the two of them made as a team by not reading the clue, and that one really cost them. Fratley saying he and Freya were more deserving of making the final three than Lucil & Elma after they’d beaten them out for the final spot on the final leg was also a very cringe-worthy Cargo Class moment, as he didn’t say it in regards to their racing skills. He was still bitter over the Yield! And obviously, Fratley’s attack-ing Cyan & Gau on the ship was a Cargo Class moment all the way, as he nearly killed them and very well could’ve gotten himself and Freya dis-qualified (although why he hadn’t been for his earlier antics still sur-prises me). The fit he threw after Cyan & Gau had successfully fought him off was a Cargo Class moment that showed what a poor sport he was at being fairly beaten in a battle that he shouldn’t even have caused. So, here are all of your Cargo Class moments, Freya & Fratley. Especially you, Fratley! Enjoy them if you can! Now for the runners-up, Godo & Yuffie. As far as First Class moments go, they get credit for their fine choice to gamble on the flight with the risky connection, just as Freya & Fratley did. Godo also gets one for his strong performance in both of the Roadblocks. His ninja skills really came in handy at the key Roadblock, and he showed great perseverance at the blitzball Roadblock. They also get a First Class moment for recognizing their limits at the final Detour and, knowing they had no Destruct Mate-ria to blow away the protective magic surrounding the Ochu, choosing and completing Browse very quickly. Their remarks about the eliminated teams as their spheres were uncovered were incredibly amusing, too. And when they just barely lost the race to Cyan & Gau, they took second place graciously, so I give them both First Class honors for that. So, Godo & Yuffie, here are your First Class moments! Well, if there’s one moment for Cargo Class I can think of, it was maybe opting for Browse on the final leg (even the speed at which they com-pleted it was commendable). Not entirely sure why they did this, as they can both fight even without the Destruct Materia they needed. This could have easily wound up costing them. There’s probably one other Cargo Class moment for this team — just accepting the first flight they got to Bevelle rather than looking for any earlier ones. It was this move that more or less was the clincher of their second-place finish. I also have to take a moment to point out a moment that was rather Cargo Class in nature for both this team and Fratley — the fight for the armor at the Seek Detour on the penultimate leg. Not pleasant to read about at all. Very childish behavior all around. So, Godo & Yuffie, here are your Cargo Class moments! And finally, let’s look at winners Cyan & Gau. Their overall performance on both legs of the finale was First Class all the way. Nice work on the watery tasks on the penultimate leg. I really enjoyed Cyan’s sharing his memories of his son. I was impressed by Cyan easily calming Gau down when he started to get frustrated with the key Roadblock, so that is a First Class moment for him. The two of them faced Fratley in a short but tough battle on the ferry to Kilika and almost didn’t survive it. But they put all they had into it and defeated him, which wins them another First Class moment. Their clever strategy to defeat their Ochu at the Brawl Detour must be given a nod for a First Class moment, as well. I also have to applaud Cyan’s perseverance at blitzball Roadblock, where he faced a series of powerful attacks. And, of course, the smartest move of all — searching for and finding a flight that’d arrive in Bevelle earlier than the flight Godo & Yuffie were on — is another well-earned First Class moment for these two. Just as it doomed Godo & Yuffie to their second-place fin-ish, it ensured Cyan & Gau’s victory. Finally, their first-place finish and final moments upon winning the race were First Class all the way. Therefore, Cyan & Gau, for your fabulous display of good racing, your friendly attitudes toward other teams and each other, and for basically making sure this season ended on a wonderful note, here are your First Class moments. As for Cargo Class moments, I don’t think there’s a single negative mo-ment this team needs or deserves to have noted here, which makes me even happier that they won! Congratulations, Cyan & Gau, for being the only one of the final four teams with absolutely no Cargo Class moments to acknowledge in the finale! Well, that’s all for the finale’s awards — everyone’s First Class moments, and everyone’s Cargo Class moments. I hope you have enjoyed reading them and enjoyed the race on the whole. It’s been a great season, and one I won’t forget! See you soon! Have an issue with my choices? Then just let me know by contacting me at Agent0042@mail2Fanatic.com. |
