Very short random war story, like 2 paragraphs long The sun scorched down on the barren desert wasteland. Heat that felt like 200 ovens on full blast in your face, sweat running over your body and face, paranoia misguiding your mind at every turn. The days are long, the nights are even longer and the battles rage all over the place. We are expendable assets, left to rot in this hell hole, left to fight for a war that is pointless and crippling our minds and numbing our emotions. There is no way out of it; we knew this would happen ever since we became weapons for our nation’s army, that’s all we are to them, weapons. Expendable weapons with no meaning except to kill. We walked across the soft warm sand, all of a sudden a gunshot pierces the air like a syringe to a vein, we drop to the ground, scanning every inch of the wasteland. Danny was hit, falling to the floor faster than a brick thrown out of a window. It was a sniper hiding in one of the dunes. 4 of us moved up quickly in a 2 by 2 cover formation. The gunshot sounds again and they catch a glimpse of the gun blast and take aim. They pumped the sand dune full of lead. Over 2 magazines worth of SA-80 7.72mm high powered rifle rounds riddles the body of the sniper, it wasn’t even a body anymore, just a piece of mashed meat, the blood drying in the humidity of the desert. In was there in no time for remorse, no time for pain, no time for suffering, there are only 2 things - Kill or be killed. It’s a very exciting lifestyle yet at the same time its living hell.
