I got a pet bird a few weeks ago, and called him Pikachu (after my favorite cartoon character, Pikachu).

I used to have 2 pet birds called Georgie and Nolan, but Nolan died last July, and I didn't want Georgie to be alone, so I got another bird and called him Pikachu.

But, after just two and a half weeks, Pikachu died while I was at work last night. Here's a poem for him.



A friend who was to young to die
Left me last night, when he slipped by.
There's seed he won't eat in my hand
A perch, a mirror, a tray full of sand
Not fo Pikachu to see,
But now it's just there for Georgie
I miss the friend who didn't know
how much I love animals so.

I remember the fun we had
But never thought his health was bad
and now we're both in a different kind of cold
But I wish you could have lived to grow old

I remember when I first saw Pikachu
It was more than friendship or something new
He was a pet, a friend with no real flaws
And I miss when I always knew where he was

I hate to think of him as gone
And hate to think of Georgie as alone.

I miss your soft feathery touch
And I know I miss you oh so much

It happened so soon, no chance for goodbye
He was so young, but not too young to die
