| | i cant really compare with letter grading, because in america the least smart and the smartest get the same tests.. and the same stuff in class. we have a class system, depending on how smart you are.. there are 7 classes, and i was in the second highest.. so with your grades, you could be in the highest.. but also in the 4th or 5th.. thats why i think that system just doesnt work. |

| | Nice Vivisteiner, do you want to go to Cambridge or something? Yeah, I've never taken GCSEs, as I'm American. I'm not sure what's the equivalent...perhaps Regents exams by state? If that's the case, then I had: English: 99% World History: 98% US History:99% Biology: 99% Chemistry: 98% Physics: 97% Math I (A): 99% Math II (B): 98% I wound up going to an Ivy League school. However, I'm not sure how much of that stuff I remember. As an English major, most of the quantitative reasoning started leaking out. ![]() |

| | On GCSE level in England, classes are organized by ability, with different tiers of tests. Say there are 8 classes for Maths, Sets 1-4 would take the higher paper, which would give a A*-C, with the other sets taking lower paper, giving C-G. Thi gives an oppotunity for everybody, smart or not so, to get a C grade. However, for classes which would take the same test...I think the marking systems is in percentage, and I think approximately.... A*=95% A=90% B=80% C=70% D=60% E=50% F=40% U=<40% I think, something along those lines. I'm starting GCSEs next year, and I'm expected B-A* in everything. |
