Yeah, I've never taken GCSEs, as I'm American. I'm not sure what's the equivalent...perhaps Regents exams by state? If that's the case, then I had:
English: 99%
World History: 98%
US History:99%
Biology: 99%
Chemistry: 98%
Physics: 97%
Math I (A): 99%
Math II (B): 98%

I wound up going to an Ivy League school. However, I'm not sure how much of that stuff I remember. As an English major, most of the quantitative reasoning started leaking out.
Woah, those exam marks are huuuuuuge!

You sorta failed physics though.

And yeah, Im gonna apply to do natural sciences at Cambridge most probably. University of Cambridge: homepage for the Natural Sciences Tripos

A*=95%
A=90%
B=80%
C=70%
D=60%
E=50%
F=40%
U=<40%

I think, something along those lines. I'm starting GCSEs next year, and I'm expected B-A* in everything.

It varies a lot from subject to subject. Something like RS, A* is 90%. Something like Physics A* is around 85% - 80%. For Art its like 97%. Because some exams are pretty difficult while others are easier. I dont think you can get a grade F though. I think it goes from E straight to U. A typical example might be:

A* - 85%
A - 75%
B - 65%
C - 55%
D - 45%
E - 35%
U - <35%

But it varies a hell of a lot.

Course, that's only for higher tier. If you're doing middle or lower tier then even if you get 100% in the exam, you still cant get A*. I think for intermediate, the max is an A and for lower, the max is a B. But dont quote me on that.

The examiners for GCSE are also really stingy. You gotta pretty much hit the nail on the head to get the marks.

Lower tier top is C, so everyone has a chance to get 5 A*-C grades.

I took the New York State Regents exams, and the ACT. Here are my results.

Earth Science - June 2003 - 94
Math A - January 2004 - 97
Living Environment - June 2004 - 97
Global History and geography -June 2005 - 98
Chemistry - June 2005 - 100
Spanish - June 2005 - 94
Math B - June 2005 - 92 (This exam was broken, it had pre-calc stuff on it, and a lot of people failed it)
US history and Government - June 2006 - 100
Physics - June 2006 - 100
English - June 2006 - 90

To graduate high school in New york, you need to pass 2 Science regents, Math A, Both history regents, English, and a language. If you add on an extra science and more math, you can get an advanced regents diploma. Passing a regents is 65% or higher

On the ACT I got a 32. (About a 2100 on the SAT)

i also took a few AP courses.

AP Physics B - May 06 - 5
AP Biology - May 07 - 5
AP European History - May 07 - 3
AP Calculus BC - May 07 - 4
AP Calculus AB subset - Part of the BC exam - 5

for the AP exams they are graded from 1 to 5. A 3 is passing.

Oh Qwertyxsora, you took NY regents exams. I took those too. Except, I totally forgot about the Earth Science one. I think I got a 99% or 98% on that.
You definitely have better math skills than I do. My verbal scores killed my math scores (800 to 720). I've always hated math.
And if we're doing AP exams, I had:
Chemistry: 4
Language and Composition: 4
US History: 5
Biology: 5
Calculus AB: 4
Literature: 5
Macroeconomics: 5

And to Vivisteiner, yay for Cambridge! I visited last summer when I went to England. There was this amazing pub that had really phenomenal burgers. Also, yes, physics was my worst subject.

I took the Regents too, I forget most scores on them though. As for AP, my mediocre record so far is:

AP European History - 3
AP Chemistry - 3
AP US History - 5

I did well on the SAT's though, got a 2270.

I like showing off.
I could show off even more, but I wont. Because you'll mock me and throw rotten fruit in my general vicinity.
I can show off too and say I got my maths A* three years early, and finished my maths A-levels at the same time as the rest of the GCSEs (A again, of course) But all those As and A*s at GCSE level (didn't get anything else) don't matter 7-8 years down the line and working in industry now, it's more being able to keep up to date in what you specialise in Good luck getting into Cambridge though, don't repeat some of the stuff I did there
