In one chocograph you find 8 full sets of "tropical" equipment (Straw hat, Sandals etc.). Is there any kind of practical use to these?

They provide the lowest stats in the game, so what's the point? Humour? A secret that's unlocked if your whole party wears it (and possibly does something, or goes somewhere)? Does anyone know, because I don't have the slightest clue.
