60 is far too old to be having children. The mother will nearly be 80 before the kid finishes highschool. Imagine having to put your parents in a rest home before you even finish school.
Hopefully the woman has had children before turning 60.
Biologically speaking, there is no young or old, simply reproduction. I don't know that I'm willing to make a moral statement on this, but I do think that it's only sensible to have kids when you are emotionally stable, financially secure, and can provide for them sufficiently until they are at least the age of majority and preferably beyond. But arguing against our single most fundamental biological urge, indeed the entire purpose of our existence from our body's point of view, is like trying to turn back the tide. People are going to have sex and kids at times when it might not be their wisest option, simply because it's what we're meant to do.
I don't think there's any specific age due to people having different levels of maturity sometimes regardless of their age, so I think it's a more a case of "being ready" rather than their age. However, I certainly think that the parents should be out of school and university before they make such a decision and be financially secure enough to afford one and all the associated costs. If it were me personally, I'd probably want one between the ages of say 24 and 30 assuming I was out of education by that point. I'd certainly not want one straight out of university because I'd want a few years to find my feet first. Likewise, I suppose have a girlfriend (or preferably wife) would help!

I think old people should be banned from having sex when people know about it. Except for me, of course. When I hit 70, I'm going torunhobble around the town completely naked, asking people if they want some wrinkly lovin'.

It's probably weird for the kids whose parents were 45+ when they were born. More like grandparents. o_o
Me, I don't want kids until I'm like.. 30. First of all I'm terrified of childbirth and also it doesn't look that fun to take care of a baby. :P I want to enjoy my youth and freedom. When I do have kids, I might consider solely by adoption. And if I have to compromise, I'd give birth to ONE kid only.

I don't agree with that. Granted I didn't regret seeing the colored line but that was only 'cause I knew I was pregnant to begin with and my husband and I wanted a child, I do admit I did have regret for the first three months only because the line caused me to realize things were about to change and that things that weren't going to change, needed to change, clearly I have no regret anymore, but honestly, most people who find out they're going to have a baby regardless of age (unless they are planned) will, at some point of pregnancy, question if this was a good choice or even go "What have I done?".Originally Posted by rubah
A lot of first time parents that I've met and known who are wonderful parents now, truly regretted getting pregnant at that time, but after about 4 months of pregnancy that regret was washed away. (At 4 months you tend to be able to feel the baby kick at you, so in most cases people tend to look at the baby solely as a fetus until that physical and maternal bond is created by the fact you can now feel the child inside you).
I think that if you regret the line forever, then yeah you're to young or to old, but in most cases that's not the case, they only regret it for a few months then realize the wonderment of having a baby inside of you.
