#33 lol. As Arucard said, it is your opinion that Becker is the best. Actually I didn't claim to be able to play anyone's material, I said I had played guitar for eight years; even so, how can you tell my skill based upon my music preference? ...Oh what's that? You can't. ![]() |

| | Sephirophishere, you've contradicted yourself and your digging yourself a hole. Want a shovel? You say Michaelangelo's a ![]() ![]() ![]() guitarist, yet Becker has perfect technique? Technique is not what makes a great guitarist. All these guitarists have great technique, especially Michaelengelo (he's the fastest- i think his technique is pretty down) and Kirk Hammet. What makes a GREAT guitarist isn't technique. Sure, it helps a lot, but it has to sound good. Think of it like this: while a lot of people can draw and paint amazingly truthful representations of nature, not every single one of them is remembered. To be remembered and acclaimed as a great artist, you have to have the soul of the artist (a la Andy Warhol). The same is true with guitar. Basing your arguement on technique alone will get you nowhere. Sure, I freakin hate the way Slash plays guitar, but I do admit his technical skills are pretty damn good. Same goes for Michaelangelo. Shut up. If you're better than Kirk Hammet, prove it. If you're not, say it now and gain some respect. |

bull!!!!!!!!....hammett has the worst technique i have ever heard....and becker has the right balance of creativity and technique....adn becker actually plays stuff that is hard unlike batio...and....if you just listen to the david lee roth album a lil aint enough you will be very impressed..... |

| | So, if you know everything about guitarists (just assuming you do since you speak as if you were the bible), where's your album? When are you going on tour? Where's your critics website? Why doesn't anyone seem to accept your "truth" without question? Yes, they were/are are all good. Some have different styles than each other and some play closer to the book in terms of technique than others. Despite that this is an FF forum, some of us do know what the hell when we are talking about guitarists. I'd like to see your credentials that entitle you to your "truths", and then maybe we may be a little more open to accept your ideas. If you completely own Batio in a concert on stage, then we may be more willing to think he "sucks". |

| | I never said Becker wasn't great. I haven't heard enough fom him to talk about him properly. I highly doubt Hammet would have the worst technique you have ever heard. Come on be reasonable. I'm not a fan of heavy metal style guitaring but I have watched Hammet play on various dvds etc. and he is definatley a technical virtuoso. He practices up to three hours a day (according to my old guitar teacher) from the Berkley books. Anyone who manages to work their way through all those books and still uses them is bound to have pretty freakin good technique. They are great books. Check them out if you haven't already. |

| | this is my friends website..... www.altheripper.moonfruit.com he shares the same ..."opinions"as me... virtuosoes should practice 9 hours....and hammett is pathetically weak....he is a nice guy though....but he is a crappy player... oh an dhte reason i havent released an album is because i havent got a very unique style....it jus sounds like some other guy that already has an album...so im workin hard on improvisin and songwritin and stuff... |

| | Vituosos should practice nine hours? Nah, not if they don't need to. And Becker is good, but I wouldn't put him anywhere near the best guitarists I've ever heard. He may be technical, and have the technique, but that doesn't mean a thing compared to a good tune. Then again, I don't like Batio, Satch or Vai much either, virtuosos tend to bore me. My favourite guitarists would have to include Jerry Cantrell (AiC), Alexi (Bodom), Deron Miller (CKY), Chuck (Death), Pepper Keenan (Corrosion, Down), Ginger (The Wildhearts), Tom Morello (Rage), Dan and Pin (Sikth), Claudio and Travis (Coheed), and Friedman (Megadeth). All musicians who can put together some damn fine riffs, and top them up with the odd amazing solo. A good riff and a well thought out solo means more to me and speed and technique any day, and I've been playing for around four years now. |

| | Agreed. These two are so goddamned underrated. |
