An old movie, among my top ten favorites to be sure. Captures the elements of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other to-the-limit phenomenons quite accurately. "The Horror" speech at the end provides an excellent philosophical debate regarding the human conditioning.

My dad fought in Vietnam, and this is one of his favorite movies about the war. It's also the first he saw after coming back. It's not very historically accurate, but it captures the 'feel' of the war very well, according to him. I've seen it many many times.

There's only one thing that pisses me off; when my dad saw the movie in theatres, there was a different ending. One where an airstrike is called and the whole place is napalmed. He loved that ending. So when I got my PS2, I went and bought a dvd of Apocolypse Now: Redux, the more expensive of the Apocolypse Now dvds and assumedly the one with all the extras. While it did have all those extras... it didnt have the ending! A few months later, a guy I was dating let me borrow the normal DVD... and it had the ending. I was quite perturbed.

There's my pointless rant.
