Azumanga Daioh is hardly confusing. I think the humor is pretty straightforward actually.

Lain, however, seems to just exist to mess with to mess with my mind. >_<

Definately Paranoia Agent, that show rocks.

And Cowboy Bebop isn't on your list of anime. You should remedy that.

Finally, Monster is awesome, I've just started watching it recently. Though it doesn't seem to be in English.
