Default OCR Text Recognition

Hi, I'm using the OCR Text Recognition feature via Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (non-extended) to recognise Japanese text from a .PDF file (whose file is only readable.)

I have successfully OCR'd one page and when I copy the text and paste them into NotePad or WordPad, the pasted text looks really messed up, as they are not true Japanese characters. They look something like this: ''''''''V''''''''L''''''1'''''''''' O O

It works fine when I copy and paste English text, but not with Japanese text.

I was assuming that this was because I didn't have a specific Japanese font installed. But then, I found out that I already have downloaded and installed the Japanese pack from Microsoft a while ago . . .

I'm unsure whether the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 (only in Japanese) or the extended software will work.

Any suggestion?
Thanks in advance.
