Opening lots of URL's in Firefox

Is there anyway to open a lot of URL's in one Firefox window (through tabs)?

I have a long list of URL's in an excel format (all in column A), and would like to open them all at once -- is this possible?

If you open too many URLs in Firefox at once you will probably crash it. But anyways.

1. You can do it via a command line. If you were on Windows, Start Menu => Run => type "cmd.exe" => type:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" http://google.com http://eyesonff.com http://whatever.com

They will open in tabs. You can copy/paste the list of URLs onto the command line to avoid typing.

2. If you make a bookmarks folder, and make a bookmark for each URL and put it into that folder, you can middle-click the folder and open all bookmarks at once in tabs. If these URLs are ones you'll have to re-visit many times, this may be a good option.

I don't usually have problems with firefox with 70-100 tabs open at once

It isn't the massive amount of tabs that worries me.

What worries me is what may be on some of those tabs.

As long as they aren't loading up videos or CPU-intensive scripts in every tab (and that there aren't thousands

) I don't think there would be a huge problem. It would be very easy to write a program to parse the URL and execute the command to open them.

What I do when I have a long list of URLs I want open at the same time uses this very site. :P I make a new post, copy and paste the URLs into it, hit preview (cause Post will confuse people) and middle click each one. That might be a pain in the ass if there are too many, but if there are too many it's probably not a good idea to open them all at once anyway. xP

Thanks for that guys! I have 270 or so tabs open and it runs fine (a lot have flash scripts, too).

(Btw, it's for a mind numbingly boring database entry job, but at least I'm getting paid a lot per hour for it!)

Edit: Imagine how screwed you'd be if you opened 300 MySpace pages at once. XD
