#1 Alright, my roommate made me move the computer from his bedroom into the living room (even though I told him the internet connection wouldn't work there) and then move it back. I had the modem connected only to my router and then my router connected to the phone line and the PC. That allowed me to use the wireless connection on my laptop and the lan connection on the desktop. However, now it's not working. I think I might have rearranged the lan cables or something. Blah. Can anyone, like, describe how it should look? Because I can't remember for the life of me. ^_^; |

| Site Staff | Filters aren't necessary for the DSL modem/router. They are for phones and faxes and other things like that though. Most filters have two sockets - one for a phone and one for the router and the router socket actually bypasses the filter and gives a direct line to the phone jack. As Allie said, your hardware should be set up like: Phone jack -> modem -> router -> computers or replace modem -> router with router if you have a router/modem in one. |
