I know why you don't like it The two backgrounds you created doesn't match and the colours too! I don't know but it seems like you made half sig with a brush and the other with filters! An advice everytime you make a bg you may combine filters and brushes, actually you should do that but not appart! What I made with my 'UTIS' sig was play with the render through filters, so you can spray the Squall render all over the banner and play with it! That's a nice brushless way to start! Hope I helped ^^

and again borders... i like the two lines coming from the lower left corner but you should try adding a border... it adds alot to a image if done well... and yeah the colors didn't quite match and just like you said for yourself... it seemd to alck some effects... making the sig very dull... if a sig becomes too dull i usually add more text, if I can't think of anything else of course , that way at least it becomes more interesting... but it's okay otherwise with the blending and all... oh but the text is not good sorry... way too plain... try adding at least ONE effect to it...
