I cannot believe no one has mentioned the Metal Gear Solid series yet! MGS1 set the standard for PS1 voice-acting.

Actually someone did mention MGS earlier.

Me I can't believe no one has mentioned Xenosaga. At least Xeno 1 and III.

YouTube - Xenosaga-Acceptable Losses

YouTube - Andrew Cherenkov (Xenosaga) Part 4

YouTube - Xenosaga III - 093 - Chapter 7 - Tragedy At The Church

And there's several more...

Seriously. Shion's, Margulis', KOS-MOS', Ziggy's, Jr.'s, Albedo's....all their voices were perfection.

Metal Gear Solid was the best voice acted game I had ever played until I played Final Fantasy 12. The voice acting with the amazing, frickin, smurfin awesome dialogue makes an amazing experience. Everyone does unbelievable, no one is is bad. It's an an amazing game.

Respect to Alucard for mentioning Legacy of Kain. I recently restarted a game of Defiance, not sure if i'll go through it, but definately top notch performances in there.

In FFXII, even the the supporting roles were outsanding, particularly the Judge Magisters.

Of course MGS1. So many classic lines made memorable, and David Hayter perfectly expresses the coldness and cynicism of Solid Snake during that game. I sort of lament the way he's changed it up to make-it-more-gravelly-everytime-the-sentence-expires, but the later games have remained top notch performances, and I expect MGS4 to be no less.

And I would extend Psy's comments to the entire GTAIII trilogy - Joe Pantoliano, Frank Vincent etc. in III, Ray Liotta in VC and of course Sammy L. in San Andreas. Even fresh blood in IV was very good, but I feel a slightly better script would have put it over the top.

I'd have to say Mega Man Legends 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, 2, and 3, and a couple of the FFXII voices.

Mega Man Legends in particular really blew me away 'cause Megaman 8 before it had such shoddy voice acting, and Megaman X4's acting was better but not by much. Then Legends came out and it had damn good voices for its time.

Metal Gear Solid really needs no explanation. The voice acting in all three of the games is really good, no matter the character.

FFXII I gave mention to 'cause Balthier and Fran have awesome voices. I have to be honest and say that I didn't really care for most of the other voices, though, Basch notwithstanding.

I played GTA IV yesterday and found the voice acting to be pretty good.

Still, it's no Cid, tho.
