#17 I like the opening with the credits, militaristic music, and dramatically-framed monochrome still-shots of each character. The one with the pretentious Latin chanting and flower petals morphing into white feathers and "I'll be here...so...if I'm here...you...come here...here...so...I promise" is pretty awful, though. |

| | FFVIII's opening actually reminds of the opening of Suikoden III, which is my favorite of the series so far. It's got a great combination of images, words, and especially music, coupled with 'who the heck are all these people?' moments if you haven't played through the game yet. |

| | Indeed, FF8's introduction is undisputedly the greatest of eternity. I love all the knuckle-draggers and mouth-breathers who say, "The intro makes no sense." Of course it doesn't make sense. Yet. By show of hands, who watched the intro and thought to themselves, "OHHH, I get it!!! That sorceress wants to use time compression, this guy falls in love with that chick, and all the characters have a connection via an orphanage." The producers and writers did that on purpose. It forces you to want to figure out exactly what the hell is going on. Hook, line, and sinker. If you knew what was going to happen, why would you continue the game? |
