PC version crashes on Eidos logo

For some reason, when I try to run the game it crashes during the Eidos logo at the beginning. I have been able to run it once before, but now it seems to have decided to keep freezing during that little animation; I can't even Ctrl Alt Delete out of it and am having to completely switch off my machine when it happens.

I've actually played a couple of Eidos-ported games before that suffered the same problem, so does anyone know how I can go about solving this problem?

Try using different codec that works with the game's system and try out new patches, just use google. Windows XP gets the best chance to work with FF8, I think.. since I played PC FF7 and I have no problem with it (no crash, etc) and im using windows xp too.

There's a communuity for solving problems like that but can't remember the coummunuity name, try google
