I have a feeling this is an enemy that, if overkilled in a big way, will retaliate with a nasty status ailment, but also packs an instant kill attack.

Probably wrong though; I can think of no such enemy in the game.

Oh! Oh! Is it the Gargoyles in the North Cave?

Okay I was still online, so I'll answer right away.

YES!

To those who don't know: Gargoyles can be killed by using a Soft on them, while they're still petrified. If no character is in Slow-numb or Petrify status when the Gargoyle dies, he will use L4 Death. Even Final Attack can't save you, since there's no enemy -> no final attack.

Whoops. Somebody else go for it, I've got FF6 on the brain lately because I've been playing it so much so I can't think of a good FF7 riddle.

Therefore I pass this on to whomever is first to post a riddle.
