Default Do you think i need to play the game?

Because i know it explains things well at the beginning, but i watched it, and me and my friend (who also hasnt played FFVII) didnt understand a thing...

Would playing the game help me understand what the hells going on in the film??

Yeah, it would. You see, FFVII AC is in my opinion one of the best action movies ever. It lacks plot, however. What little plot there is is difficult to follow :P

Sort of. The two plots aren't 100% connected.

Advent Children is a pretty movie, but the plot was rubbish.

Yeah i really liked watching it, and it would be even better if i knew what was going on I just cant seem to get the plot very well really. Maybe i should watch it a few more times.

Definitely.
Watching FFVII:AC without playing the game first is totally a big NO.
I wouldn't say that the game will answer your every whatever-in-your-brain question but it sure does helps you in some ways to understand the plot
But don't put on very high expectation & hope - that's my advise!

You don't need to as the DVD comes with a reminiscent of FFVII i think it's about VII minutes long it shows all the story related stuff of VII. It really doesn't matter in the end though because the only thing tied in the movie with VII is the reappearance of Sephriroth other than that it doesn't have really anything else from the story of VII and not to mind that Marlene sort gives you a summary of what happened in the begginning.
