Actually, the way I interpreted Edgar's quote was he thought she'd get her reckless self killed early in life. For instance, she ventures into caves alone, goes face-to-face with huge monsters, and talks back to just about everyone. Oh wait, she'll be 18 in 8 years. Yup, Ed's a pedo.
