What's a good level to fight against Kefka?

I picked up Final Fantasy VI on the GBA again (I stopped playing it for a while.) and I noticed my characters that I wanted for the Final Battle were in some weird levels.

Terra lvl. 52
Cyan lvl. 43
Celes lvl. 45
Locke lvl. 43

I must have been away for a long time, because I don't remember Terra being level 52 at all. Anyway, I would like to know what every thinks is a good level for my fighters. Also, does lock learn Mug or does he buy a weapon to receive that power? Any help would be great.

50's are a decent level, some people have done it lower than that. I like being OP, so I got to 75 first...it was overkill on my part.

You get MUG from a relic.

Whoa, Don't have to be so kind. Either your new to the FFVI forum or you took my mental MELTDOWN as criticism.
Sometimes my brain shuts off when something having to do with Kefka is incorrect.

Seriously though, kindness confuses me in times of a mental breakdown.

Anyways, I say 50+, Like right now during this playthrough. (I do alot of playthroughs..) I think we(me and my bf) got Locke at level 37 (Got Locke last). Of course that's not including the fact that we spent a few good hours leveling in the phoenix cave.

It really depends on how hard you want the battle really.

In the snes and ps version, the relic for mug is Theifglove, i dont know what it is for GBA though.

But i was able to beat Kefka (

) at about lvl 40

Level 50 is more than enough. You could do it easily in the 40's, and probably even in the high 30's without too much trouble, especially if you plan well and spam Ultima.
