Whats wrong with the red mage summoner

I heard a lot about the red mage being bad but when I made a red mage with summon as a sub job, I could cast summons two times in a row. If anything this could make up with not-so-many-spells. I also found bare is always good.

Bare is the best! But using one is a waste because he won't gain AP.

I like red mages. But i never have the patience to train one until i reach the X-zone. I don't generally use one in normal gameplay. I tend to use him for things like one-hit-killing X-death and neo X-death or single player challenges

But X-Magic is a command ability and any class besides Bare and Mime only have one optional command slot. You couldn't have added both !X-Magic and !Summon on a Redmage.

yes. but you could add red mages doublecast. 2-3 summoners with doublecast or 2-3 summoners with X-magic would beat nearly anything without much trouble.
