Before I bother mastering the Red Mage class only to discover this ability is a bit crappy, can someone please ascertain Redx2's fuction for me?

a) From what I understand, it allows you to use two Black or White spells in a single turn, but they've gotta be level 3 or below, just like a Red Mage can use.

b) Or am I wrong and is it actually a Doublecast for any and all spells currently useable by that particular character? (So a Time Mage with Redx2 can cast any two Time spells already learned, a Black Mage gets and two Black spells she knows and so forth)

It is all Red Magic, plus any other magic you have the ability to cast, so basically red magic then two out of white, black, and jikuu (the most slots is three with mime) I don't think it includes blue magic, song magic or dances.

well stupid me had the redX2 ability to a fighter....so like...all he knew was red magic so it was useless

Eqiup redx2 on a black mage, white mage, time mage or summoner and they can double cast any spell they have learned.

Combine this with the time mages spell "Quick" for devestating results

Doublecast - 'Meteor + Quick' + 'Meteor + Meteor' + 'Meteor + Meteor'

Or using a mime you can replace Meteor with Bahamut/Holy/Flare etc
