I think it's when Vivi and Quina get hitched. It's not "necessary" to do it in the game. The dwarves seem pretty happy about it, as does Quina, but Vivi is a little uncomfortable, hence lopsided-ness.

Yep, Vivi and Quina's wedding/ceremony is the correct answer.

The gaiety seems lopsided -> What you said.
As the two taciturnly join -> They're all quiet-like.
An act of necessity, yet not so -> It's done because it seemingly has to be done, but the event is still technically optional.

The "libidinous spirit" makes me think of Brahne, and how she lusts after power, which fits with my interpretation of "grasping a royal token", because she hunts down the four crystals. But I can't fit the first line into my logic.

I'll go ahead and guess Beatrix, if only to knock another possibility off the list.

My guess is either Odin or Atomos.
Both are summoned by Brahne while aboard the Red Rose, however Odin's summoning doesn't directly relate to the claiming of a royal token since Beatrix had already claimed it. So I'm leaning towards Atomos.
