It's a video game. One from the SNES days no less. There needs to be no reason, logical reasoning wasn't anything they needed back then, let alone for the placement of characters. XD

Heck the world of FFIV has no bathrooms and anyway for hygiene. So logically the people of that world must be very smelly and dirty. Yet we don't think of that cause logically we'ld think how nasty it is.

NOt many know that Kain had a gambling addiction.

He was there, cooly betting his sanity and mind against Zemus, and upon losing, he was granted a loan. Afterwards, when Cecil met up with him, Kain was so frightened and depressed that he started spea\king aloud about his dragoonship and past.

Then, after the Rydia incident, Zemus came a collectin :P

Maybe he was cutting paper into really tiny pieces like confetti, so after the game was over, Kain could congrat Cecil and throw confetti at him. You never know
