This is not how probabilities work. Each group of five has a 1% chance to drop at least one Pink Tail on average. This means that you need to fight about 100 or so battles to gain a Pink Tail. Note that as with all things in FF4 nothing is truly random, so chances are attempting to calculate such things is wasted effort.

This is the odds he'll get it before he runs out of sirens. Not the odds of it being dropped.

First off when applying probabilities for indepedant events, you multiply the odds, not add them. Since each Pink Tail has a chance to drop it, and is in no way affected by it's fellow Pink Tail's, then you have to consider the absolute bare minimum for it to occur. In this case, the chance for one Pink Tail to drop is 1/64 * 63/64 * 63/64 * 63/64 * 63/64. These are the chances that a single Pink Tail will drop from one monster (1/64), and not drop/something else drop from the others (63/64). This comes up with 0.0146710882... whatever, which equated to around 1.4% chance to drop. Anything beyond that (two tails dropping, three tails dropping etc.) could be added on this, but the numbers become so astronomically small that they're not even worth mentioning. The chances of five dropping in one battle are 1/1073741824. Back on topic, fighting with 20 sirens, you have a 28% chance on average for at least one pink tail to drop. Mathematically speaking you need to fight at least 72 battles to guarantee one to drop. However as I have previously mentioned this is all irrelevant in the face of FF4's "unrandom-random" number scheme.

How do you get sirens other than monsters dropping them because I only gotten 6 sirens in total> I didn't know how to do the chances math thing before i read the last post. i just learned something.

To get more Sirens, I plunder them. In the Trials area on the moon, There is one of the areas that have the searcher. I can plunder usually 2 with Edge. I have 36, and then go back to the Pink Tail Room. I save the game on Sub Level 7, then go back to Sub Level 5. I have been able to get one Pink Tail so far. If I use them all up, I just open my save game and do it again. The armor has saved Rosa from all but Globe 199. Everything else has either healed her 9999, or only caused about 2-3 K damage.

Um..well, what about the original? Is it impossible once you've gone through the Tower and Giant of Babel? (Since I recall there being those "Searcher" monsters that drop them...)

Once you finish the game and open the Cave of Trials, one of the areas you are taken to is inside the Tower of Babel. That is where I plundered mine from.

No...I mean, in the original FFIV. Not Advance. No secret dungeons. So is there any way to get them in the original? Or no? Just a yes or no answer.
