Ribbon Won't Equip

I'm playing FFIV again for the third time and I'm having problems with equpping a couple of items I received. I acquired these items in the core of the moon after defeating the lunasaurs. When I went to te menu and tried to equip these helmets, the game wouldn't allow me. Why is that? The item comes up white like a regular item yet it won't let me equip it.

What version are you playing? The main reason that comes to mind is that you've run out of inventory space.

I'm playing the PS version and I haven't run out of inventory space I checked and I don't think that would've been a problem since I equipped stuff before when I had it full and all it did was just switch the items.

Can you describe the error in more detail? I believe the Ribbon should be equippable by Rosa, Rydia, and Edge, and it may even be equippable by all party members in the game.

I suppose that you already tried the Optimize option, right?

Final Fantasy IV does not have an optimize equipment option in its original form.

Only Rosa and Rydia can equip Ribbons, so chances are you've tried giving it to Cecil, Kain or Edge.
