I am just wondering if any has seen the statues on the surface world.

There are a narrow parthway on the continent, with 2 statues that stand between your path. There are many sets of statues guarding the path.

When I approach them, two sets of statues disappear, but when I try to walk through the next set of statues, I see a red flash, and my entire party gets killed.

So I was just wondering how I get past the statues, and what is beyond?

I won't spoil it to you, but if you go on with the game you'll get past the statues in due time. Just keep on doing all the quests. What is beyond them is also a big spoiler. But don't worry, you can't avoid going through there, so...
