stat numbers

Guy, Maria, and Frioniel all have 99 vit. However, they keep seeming to gain vit. Is the extra vitality actually there, or does the game just tell you gain it after a certain amount of hitting, and doesn't check to see if you *could* gain any?

Unless the display physically changes (probably either becoming 01,02 etc. or A1, A2) you can assume that the value isn't going over the displayed maximum. Usually if a value goes over the number of displayable units then it would be reflected in the value.

I think it stops at 99.

I also think the stat development stops at the max stat. However, it also happened to me in the NES version that the game kept telling me after every battle that my weapon level increased even though the weapon was already on level 16.
