Quick FF2 question

Hey all. Just a quick on here. I'm playing, FF2, obviously, and I'm to the point where I'm supposed to use the make on the Frionel twin, and I can't seem to do it. If I talk to him he just chases me around, and I can't equip it or anything. So maybe you guys could help out.

Ok. That was supposed to be "use the mask." Sorry about that. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm kinda lost here.

If you have the mask in your inventory, "talk" to the doppelganger, then it'll bring up the "say/learn/item" box. Select item, then select the mask.

That's the problem, really. I have both masks in there, but when I talk to him, he just chases me around. I can't do anything else. That's why it has me so stumped.
