#25 No actually origins is much easier than the original NES FF1. In the original you had to account for dying enimies or miss that shot. in origins you can change that. |

| | That's true, but you can tweak everything so it plays almost exactly like the NES version. Except you can't make the music tinny again. Personally I consider most of the modifications improvements. I'd found the original NES version almost unplayable and the the PSX version addictive. |

| | Classic games, especially RPG's typically fall into two groups... that are very similar to casino games. 1) the people who play it for the flashy lights and graphics and stuff. 2) the people who play it because of the underlying math / system (and graphics are only a plus). In an RPG world, this means you either play FF7 or Chrono Trigger because it's pretty... Or you play FF1-3, the ultima's, and maybe the dragon warriors, etc ... because of the stats system used. -unf |

| | Do you enjoy mashing a couple buttons and then watching a sequence of scripted events take place ? Perhaps even having a choice or two while said events take place ? If so, then you'd lean more towards the graphics side of things -- after all, no one wants to watch an ugly FMV or ugly sprites dance on the screen. --- Do you enjoy fighting that provides only the most simple tactical awareness ? Fighting fire with ice, and vice versa ? This way you can 'beat up on them good' without having to put TOO much effort into it, yet still reap a positive reward for what you do in fact attempt to accomplish ? This is a more difficult area to discern simply because it's a good balance of art and 'easy' stat system. When I play FF4... it's kind of nice that leveling is easy and that most of the fights are easy and such... and it's nice to become god like after leveling for 'so' long and not having too many issues with the monsters/bosses thrown at you. But when playing FF1 or perhaps the original couple Dragon Warriors (DQ5 is easier in general.. havent played 4 or 6 or 7 yet), there is more sense of accomplishment when you get the new shiny or go up 2 levels. And if you don't do that leveling/shiny gaining, then you have a very tough world on your hands. |
