Default Why is the Steel/Knight's Armor so expensive?

Seriously though folks, the Chain is 80 and gives you 15 Absorb, the Iron is 800 and gives you 24 so in order to get 34 it's not 8,000 or even 28,000 it's 45,000????

What were they thinking? Also, one of my friends leveled up so much in this game his Fighter had the Steel Armor in the Earth Cave. Nuts, I say....NUTS!

The next two upgrades are Dragon Armour and Opal Armour, neither of which can be bought, and neither of which can be equipped by a basic Fighter (only by a Knight). You're basically buying the very best protective your Fighter will have for quite a long time to come.

Also, if you have several Fighters/Knights in your party you usually can afford the armor when it's still an upgrade for at least one of them.

Aren't the Flame and Ice Armor that you soon find as good as the Steel Armor but with bonuses to resistances? I suppose you'd need 3 Fighters for Steel Armor to be a rational option.

Steel Armor has higher evasion and, as I said earlier, if you have multiple Fighters/Knights in your party you can often afford the armor when it's still useful, i.e. not at the end of the game, but in the middle of the game.

I've never had a problem being able to afford it on my way to the Earth Cave. Why is that so nuts?

It's expensive to make you grind for gold even more, so that the game seems longer than it really is.

This, basically. I personally never use it though, as I rarely if ever have more than one character at that point in the game who needs heavy armor.
