I think we should merge all of the forums I don't like.

I think it would only make the middle section very cluttered. You know, the section with the most popular games in the series which are still heavy on the activity. I'm sure there are some forums we could merge with others, but I don't think grouping all the final fantasy games is the answer here.

I think that the set-up Rye and Monda have proposed is good. Everything else I think to say they have already covered.

Every time this has been suggested though, it's been effectively dropped because staff can't agree on which boards to prune. I propose we all close our eyes and take a leap of faith. If it doesn't work, we can always revert, right? (SPOILER) I know it would take a lot of effort to move the threads backwards and forwards, but I'm willing to sign up for temp-authority to do that so the staff can do their real jobs.

One of the groups would end up being more active than the others, naturally. I don't see why that's a bad thing!

In theory, every installment and spin-off of Final Fantasy deserves its own forum, but, in practice, the individual forums are bare and boring.

Start slow, not all at once. Merge a couple forums, see if that gets the desired result, and plan from there. Nobody said you need to do everything in one big jump.

Merge all the creative forums, then we'll talk.

Merging the FF forums, to me, is a bit silly. Is it honestly a problem that you have to scroll down a bit further to get to the bottom of the page? No, not really. Is it really a big deal that not many threads are being made in certain FF forums? Well, ideally we'd like more but merging the forums together won't create more threads, it'll just conglomerate them. What WOULD be a problem is having to sift through threads trying to find the one for a specific FF game. That is not user friendly on any level.

General Chat and EoEO could get merged. All the Creative forums could get merged. Feedback and Help could even get merged, or alternatively Feedback and General Chat and EoEO altogether. Study Hall? Throw that in, too, or with Help & Feedback or something.

Typical BoB! "Oh, you like to drink water? Well in that case you should also enjoy drinking urine, cat blood and baby vomit too!"

EDIT: Rye, since you suggested it, how would you arrange the forums, then, if such pruning were to occur?

EDITGA: Goddamn, you ask to solve one problem, and you cause another. Learn how to not stretch the tables with images when you hide them in spoilers. Some of us can't scroll to the right.
Oh my god, Tav. xD Learn to right click + view image. Quit yer bellyaching.

@ qwerty. Go slow, see how it looks, and ask lots of opinions. I mean, after all, the staff might like the forums long, but maybe the people who actually use those forums most would like it condensed.

The creative forums could definitely be merged, and the help ones, I suppose.

I don't see GC and EoEo being merged though. They're too different in levels of seriousness, it would just confuse people. And no one likes a subforum in a forum.

With the inactivity of the FF forums, I don't think there's many threads people need to LOOK for - anything they'd be viewing in separate forums would be on top in a merged one. No one really goes back pages to dig for FF threads, because those tend to be more than 3 months old, in my experience. As for organization, liek I said, there can be prefix tags.

I mean, I know that from experience - in one of the FF forums, I felt a burst of activity to talk about the game, and I posted in a few threads on the bottom of PAGE ONE, and I got in trouble for necromancy. Seriously. They're not bustling with activity by any means.

That's just my two-cents though. You can merge as you like, it's just that I think that's the cleanest and most efficient set-up.

I'm not sure if you looked at the image, but that's a LOT of scrolling. xD I'm not saying it's impossible to scroll, but it's pretty annoying, yes. Maybe some people enjoy lots and lots of different forums, but I always liked a more condensed set-up.

Maybe perhaps, you guys could ask some of the FF people what they think? If they'd like three forums containing a few FF games each. I'm not sure what they'd say, but it's worth a try, sicne they're the ones who go on the most.

At the very least, condense the S-E forums in General S-E, I think, and get rid of study hall.
