If we do gaming in general, we'll be able to pull a much larger audience. Picking a specific series of genre limits our number of potential members.

I think having General Chat etc is a good idea, but have the "main focus" on gaming.

Oh, the forums will certainly have a general chat styled forum. I'm meaning the website that goes alongside it.

On another note, people who are looking to help work on a frontsite will be more likely to be offered forum mod positions than those who don't... I think that's how EoFF once worked and I think the site benefited for it.

The more specific our topic is, the easier it will be to have people find news on it, but the smaller our userbase. I think that FF is too specific a topic nowadays (and not as popular anymore) and it's causing a shortage in new members.

Whereas, if we have a broad topic, our userbase is bigger and there is much more news to be reported. However, we'll likely miss information (no big deal though, right?). Though, to combat this, we could allow ordinary users to contribute news to the frontsite (do we still have that here? I tried to find it, but couldn't )

At EoFF, you need a news account in order to submit news entries to the frontsite.

As long as the coding isn't too complex (no php), I can help with the frontsite the same way I do here.

Maybe just a general website would be sort of neat, one that isn't confined to only one area of interest. Maybe an eclectic collective of all of the staff's hobbies, where they all run their own page topics and post their own news updates?

The old fart in me thinks a retro gaming site could be fun and somewhat different, since there are so many sites dedicated to the latest news and games in the industry and not as many on the golden (and not so golden) oldies. Spotlight various games, churn out some pages on the front site about them, nothing too in depth as those are all over, but perhaps secrets, tips, humorous screenshots and/or playthroughs and the like.

Or maybe a site similar to a B movie site where we profile crappy games, poke fun at them like MST 3000.
