I don't have a problem going to the new individual albums if maintaining the current album is such trouble. But there really isn't a reason to take it down since pictures there can still be relevant. It requires no maintenance to keep it up there, right?

Exactly. Although once it's up again, then it theoretically requires next to no maintenance to keep it running, provided it doesn't get updated with any more pics.
