If I understand Big D's post correctly, that other site whose name shall never be uttered managed to just convert all of the existing user notes into public messages. That wouldn't really get in the way or anything, since I'm assuming people are going to amass a ton of these things eventually anyway. :P

I'm simply saying that deleting everyone's usernotes - thousands of personalised messages - unnecessarily is a callous and discourteous thing to do, *if* those usernotes can be turned into public messages with no real effort from the people doing the upgrades.

I don't think deleting everyone's user notes is callous as we have given everyone an ample opportunity to save this data if it is important to them.

Ideally they won't be deleted, and obviously yeah the tech-heads are looking into it, as Del said, but if that doesn't work out then I feel the staff have acted appropriately.

I don't get this argument. Just because Fool's Gold managed to keep something, probably by some accident, that the majority of members here want to keep, it shouldn't be done? It's not like you're going to manage to salvage usernotes JUST LIKE FG and then all of a sudden there is going to be a rally for a spam forum and 10,000 unnecessary skins.
