#1 Why not make it so you can make Social Groups if you've been around for a certain amount of time, but you can only make one? We do that with Custom Titles, Usernotes (Public Messaging perhaps?), why not try it with this? |

| Cid's Knight | Maybe we should clarify this in the announcement, but the main purpose we see in keeping the social groups function is to have "officlal" sort of groups that have some sort of relevance. Like location groups, EoFF Election Groups and groups of that nature rather than something like, "strawberry lovers group" and stuff like that. We really want the groups to be limited in number rather than having all sorts of groups under the sun. That's what Facebook/MySpace is for. In terms of what we want to do with social groups EoFF-wise, we want to link it into forum events rather than just having it be little mini threads for tons of different topics. I hope that clears things up a bit. |

| Site Staff | I quite like the idea of election and location groups, but I hope the criteria for allowing social groups won't be too stringent. As superfluous a feature as they probably are, I think people would lose interest if they weren't able to make their own groups. |

| Administrator | Let's put it this way: If it's something that can be a thread, it should be a thread. The reason social groups should be used at all is because they can be used privately for fair and reasonable use. Not for spam, basically. Public Messages will have enough of that to keep us going. I'm not even for 'location' groups because half the discussion will be stuff that could just as easily have been done in the middle of a forum and the other half is generally spam (based on my and other's experience at forums who have allowed social groups). The forums should always be the primary area for discussions on meetups, food, gaming releases and whatnot, though. |

| Site Staff | That's fair enough; I just rather hoped that it wouldn't be the case that the criteria for such a grouping would be so strict that people would either be put off even asking for one or that some perfectly good groups might not get made. Agreed fully on the forum being the main thing though. |
