It should be something cool like. "Sorry this thread has been taken by RSL never to be seen again."

Or.

"You clicked on the Closed button, what did you expect?"

Not.
"Sorry this thread is closed"

Most people don't know who RSL is and would be confused by the message.

Sometimes threads get closed while a reply is being posted so really the person didn't click on the closed thread button.

Not everything can be full of nonsense. In things closed messeges boring is okay.
