Thank you. I guess I should of said that. Psy and Rye and Jelli all know how to post smart, I've seen it. They do it more often than not. But when they (or hell, when anyone) decides to, they can make pretty dumb posts.

When you call someone's post idiotic, you're insulting their work. You don't allow criticisms like "This is idiotic" in the Arts and Writing forum; I don't see why it should be any different for people's posts. There are plenty of more constructive ways to discourage posting than calling people's posts idiotic; for example, you could say "That post contributes nothing to the thread and ends up wasting database space." Or something; I'm still not sure why a few spam posts in a closed thread matter enough to be called idiotic.

I'd elaborate more, but (joy of joys, I'm sure) I've got to run.

The Man has pretty much explained my stance. Also the do as I say and not as I do stance is the worse possible argument because it lowers respect levels and is pretty much the equivilent of a corrupt cop. "Don't run through red lights but watch me turn my lights on and do it"

As for the "swearing"...But isn't that the point of a filter? So that people can say the words and have it be blocked? If not then why have the filter.

Aaron, give it a break already. There is a big differnce between calling what someone does idiotic and calling the person idiotic! I do many idiotic things...like responding to you...but I don't consider myself an idiot.

Don't get me started on this, ed. It also does not belong in this thread because it's something that can have a book written on all on it's own elsewhere. But, everytime I see you going into your swearing bits I get to picturing you as something that's not very pleasant and I don't want to do that so I just wish that you wouldn't do it.

A post is not a "work." A post is basically something someone says, as if it has come out of their mouth, or their actions if the use *s. Stephen Hawking can make all the idiotic spam posts he wants, and still be Stephen Hawking.

Fair enough. I will cut back on it for you due to the later explaination give in the post. As always I doubt I can do away with it entirely but I can always cut back. I am just feeling sick as of late which is probably why I have been all up on the swear as of late...today included.

Why does the cop have to be corrupt? Cops put their lights on and speed and run red lights, when they have to do their job, like Matt was doing his job.
Maybe the cop could follow the speed limit, and take right turns on red lights, maybe he'll still catch the guy, maybe he won't, just like Matt could make a pussyboy announcement, and maybe people would listen, but maybe they won't. People make judgment calls, and according to Leeza the rest of the staff was behind Matt's call.
