#57 It's hard to judge the seriousness of text. If you joke around a lot then you aren't going to be taken seriously when you want to be. It goes the other way around. This whole thread can be a joke for all I know, but it's best to give people the benefit of the doubt on these things because if they have true concerns and feelings they want to share, they should be able to be heard without ridicule. |

| Cid's Knight |
![]() Oh well, if Lord Krang says he doesn't have a personal bias then I shall believe it, but I really couldn't figure out any other reason as to why: 1) People had to be reprimanded in the announcement, as like I say, I really can't see the need to quote people in there. He could have just said that doing that was idiotic and not named names, and that would be good enough, but when you bring people into it, it basically becomes a "telling-off", which has never happened in an announcement as regards to specific people, as far as I'm aware. 2) Why said "telling-off" had to occur when another Cid's Knight had already specifically told them to stop. I don't recall someone being dealt with over the same thing twice...so again, a new thing. ie, why special measures were taken that aren't normally used. Yours was for spamming, and his was for spamming without using the warn button...does that really constitute a whole different offence? Not using the warn button isn't against the rules here, as then otherwise you'd have people constantly using the warn button on extremely minor things so as not to be banned. I'm not entirely convinced that it was a different thing. That only brings it closer to home for those three members, which would have been suited to a PM. No-one would care anyway unless you specifically named every single member who is likely to do it. But haha, nice to see I made a fun thread. ![]() |

Yes, okay, that's fine. Does that mean that, since Matt has free reign to call anyone's posts idiotic that he likes, we all can do the same now? That's good to know! Thanks for the update. Perhaps when Matt calls people's posts idiotic we get to picturing him as something that's not very pleasant and we don't want to do that so we just wish that he wouldn't do it. No, my best guess is they're referring to when you said in the "Shlup posted this in her eljay" thread in EoEO, where there's supposed to be a zero tolerance policy against flaming. However, I'm having a hard time comprehending why that's flaming and calling someone's post idiotic is not. Last edited by The Man; 02-10-2005 at 08:03 PM. |

| Former Staff | ![]() This button is used to warn threads and posts of questionable material. When you spot a thread that should be close, you should not post saying, "Oh yeah, this thread's gonna get closed." That's stating the obvious, and it's pointless to even point it out. You see a thread that's not allowed, warn it. Don't spam in it. I know some of you guys just looooove to spam, but in some threads, it's intolerable. So, there's a rule regarding the warn button. "Warn the thread, and leave it to the staff." The staff is there for this kind of stuff. There are times I want to take things in my own hands, but I'm only a Former Staff, so I do my duty and warn. Also... Spamming can also get you guys (Psy and co.) in trouble if you do it too much. You guys are getting away with too much, so be glad you're not being warned for excessive spam, at the moment. |

| Administrator | No, it brings it closer to home for everyone because now they have real people to associate the action with. People who the majority of the members here seem to look up to so it will stick in their minds a lot longer than something from an annonymous quoter. And now thanks to your thread, it will definitely be remembered by all for a long time to come. I'm glad to see that you're happy with the attention that you have received. ![]() |
