The annoucement to me said "Flaming is okay so flame away!".

Can I make an announcement calling everyone a giant sack of ? No but it is basically saying the same thing as calling people's post idiotic. Staff are suppose to be above that and set the example. By saying what you did you set the example that making fun of people's posts is a-okay to do.

Yeah, I'd just like to point out that Baloki's post was in response to Kane comparing Psychotic and his friends to dogs, and using it to give a warning for flaming seems rather weak to me :/

That was an analogy, not a direct insult.

As Lao Tse said, "The finger which points at the moon is not the moon"

While that's fair enough, I don't see how implying that Kane would know all about dogs is the same as calling him a dog, or at all warning-worthy.

I think they think it is an insult because it is implied that Kane likes to dogs which is why he knows about them

It was an analogy. I happen to have a very high opinion of dogs. The same analogy could be made with people going to jail, spamming around because you think it's your right just seems closer to peeing on the carpet than stabbing someone.

And yes, that's it, ed.

My reprimand had nothing to do with the announcement. It was a reprimand for plain and simple spam that the two of your were getting carried away with and dragging other people in along for your ride. That is why only you and Rye were reprimanded by me.

I imagine it's because he's letting his personal feelings about those members get in the way of his better judgment.
As I said, you were not reprimanded twice for the same offence. These are two totally separate issues. We have been dealing with this warn button issue for quite some time now because people feel the need to spam and get attention instead of advising the staff when something is not as it should be and then making fun of the staff for not taking care of something that they are not aware of. This thread was the straw that broke the camels back and an announcement was made. Quoting the lot of you specifically from that thread just brings everything closer to home in my opinion.

Attempt at humour or to impress other...members is something more to your way of doing things, not Matt's. By the way, that announcement was approved by the Staff before it was put up so don't go putting all of this on Matt's shoulders.

The thing is, no announcement should have been necessary and if an announcement like the one you suggested was put up instead, no one would pay attention to it. I can't count the number of times that we have already posted in-thread asking members to use the warn button instead of spamming up threads that they know are going to be closed. Apparently those are not good enough, but this announcement now seems to be catching everyone's attention so the only one that would be acting like a jerk would be you if you still ignore the warn button.
