WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME THAT "TROPICAL ISLAND" /= "DEIST"

I spent hours grinding in order to level up enough to finish that "unusually difficult" dungeon and did I get a dragoon for my troubles? No. ALL I GOT WAS THIS STUPID BLACK MASK.
